Dolpo Trek

Trekking In Dolpo

Dolpo, rugged and remote section and one of the most beautiful treks in the far western corner of Nepal. Dolpo is a restricted area and needs a special permit and only groups with organised trek from a registered agent are allowed. The region is well described by Peter Mathiessen in 1970 as account of journey in his classic novel Snow Leopard. The trek offers interesting people, places, villages, valleys and serene forest of pines, oaks and Rhododendrons with numerous high passes over 3500m. demands a lot of stamina.

This is one of the great adventurous trek to the mysterious land where the pre-Buddhist Bon-Po religion is still in practice. The recent Oscar nominated movie CARAVAN (HIMALAYA as known in the western countries) was also shot here.
